The Town of Livingston, which is considered by most a small town, lies in a valley on the Highland Rim and is the county seat for Overton County. We are approximately 20 miles northeast of Cookeville, situated halfway between Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Livingston is located at 36°23′13″N, 85°19′32″W (36.386942, -85.325568)GR1, approximately 15 miles north of Cookeville.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²). 13.3 km² (5.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.77%) is water.
